Recently purchased a video camera which comes next to a four pin IEEE firewire connector is there any path to connect this to a usb port?

No, sorry :( They are totally different so even if you could find an adaptor to connect them physically it definitely wouldn't work and might even break something.



Your best bet is to pick up a Firewire PCI or PCMCIA card for your computer cheep of eBay and do it that route.

I don't know exactly what you are trying to connect, but if you go through your computer...

A hub can connect the devices (sort of).

If you are trying to cut sour a cable and change the terminate, the above answer is correct.
IEEE 1394 and USB are different standards and are not interchangeable. you need to install a Firewire controller card contained by your system...
